Authentication Process
Before traveling to China, visit your closest Chinese Consulate as you will need to authenticate your documents or TEFL certificate. Here are the 3 steps.

Notary Print your documents on quality paper, then make a photocopy. Take the two copies to your local notary and get the copy notarized.
Apostille The notary letter will be signed and attached to your certificate copy. This then needs to be sent to your government's authentication office. This department will already have the notary signature in their database, after notary signature verification you will then be issued with an apostille. The apostille will be placed on the back of your notary letter. The notary can also send these documents to the authentication office on your behalf.
Chinese Consulate When you receive your documents back you will then need to visit the Chinese Consulate and get their Seal of Authentication. This will be placed on the back of your document/certificate copy. Normally you can’t make an appointment, just turn up. You will need to fill out a short one page form (Application Form of Notarization/Legalization), notary should have a copy of that form to give you. The Chinese Consulate will not process this on the same day so you will have to go back again for pickup. Make sure you take your passport and all copies.
