Curriculum Developer & English Teachers in Shenzhen
We are now holding interviews for Curriculum Developers and English Teachers to teach 13 to 15 year olds at our public middle school in the southern Chinese city of Shenzhen. This position is for Canadian citizens who have a teaching license from Canada. You will be responsible for teaching a Canadian curriculum and training the local teachers on the Canadian curriculum. If you are a dynamic teacher, have an interest in an authentic Chinese school setting and can deliver learner centered, engaging lessons then we are interested in speaking with you.
Teachers use the communicative approach to language teaching with various student interactions encouraged in class such as group work, pair work, role plays, project work as well as more traditional teaching methods to add variety to the classes and help create a fun and relaxed learning environment.
All new teachers will receive training on arrival and will be introduced to the school and teaching methods. Teaching materials and resources are provided by the school and are targeted to the age of the students being taught. Teachers are encouraged to adapt and supplement the materials where need be to ensure classes are engaging and interesting.
Classes are held during the day time from Monday to Friday, with a maximum of 14 hours of teaching per week, so you have evenings and weekends off.
Teach English in Shenzhen
Shenzhen is located in the southern portion of the Guangdong Province, on the eastern shore of the Pearl River Delta. Neighboring the Pearl River Delta and Hong Kong (located just south of Shenzhen), Shenzhen’s location gives it a geographical advantage for economic development. In 1980, the first Special Economic Zone of China was built in Shenzhen. From then on, Shenzhen become a highlighted city of China, one known for its rapid economic growth.
Shenzhen is considered as one of the richest cities in the country which offers foreigners a great insight into contemporary China. From a small fishing village 30 years ago, Shenzhen has turned into a city filled with dynamic energy and on its way to becoming a world-class metropolis. Shenzhen is also known for its famous architecture, bars, restaurants, art scenes and shopping areas.

Main Responsibilities
-Maximum of 14 hours teaching per week plus admin duties
-Contract from 18th Feb 2019 – 31st July 2019
-Monday to Friday classes with evenings and weekends off
-Student age: 13 to 15 years old
-Provide and integrate Canadian curriculum to the school
-Train local English teachers to use the curriculum
-Deliver learner centered, engaging lessons to students
-Ensure equal participation of all students
-Complete all administrative tasks in a timely manner
-Actively participate in professional development workshops and activities
-Attend school activities, parties and other events
Compensation
-Excellent salary: 23,000 – 32,000 RMB monthly based on qualifications
-Housing allowance of 3,000 RMB per month and help finding an apartment
-Free one-way flight ticket from Canada to Hong Kong or Shenzhen or up to 5,000 RMB flight reimbursement
-Contract completion bonus: 5,000 – 10,000 RMB (dependent on a Final Evaluation and paid with the last month’s salary)
-5,000 RMB once-a-year flight allowance (will be reimbursed in a week upon arrival)
-Winter vacation about 1 month long (one contract period includes half month salary and one month full housing allowance)
