Applications close in -2505 days
The Maple Leaf school system includes private elementary and middle schools offering the Chinese national curriculum and high schools delivering the BC Global Education Program certified by the Ministry of Education, British Columbia, Canada. The educational aspirations of Maple Leaf students involve studying the British Columbia (BC) Curriculum beginning in Grade 10, and later pursuing higher education abroad at English-medium universities. Underpinning student success in all of our schools is an extensive ESL program taught jointly by a team of internationally qualified ESL teachers and bilingual Chinese teachers. Given the ambitious goals of our students, the ESL class is one of the most important classes for students at Maple Leaf. In order for students to be ready for the English language demands of the BC Curriculum in Grade 10, the English language training they receive in kindergarten and elementary English language is of paramount importance.
The ESL teacher will be at the school from Monday through Friday, five working days a week. The school day is normally nine hours, including student supervision and a lunch break. The average teaching load for ESL Teachers is approximately 25 hours per week. At the Kindergarten and Elementary levels, there are approximately twenty-five (25) classroom instructional periods per week. In addition to instructional periods, ESL teachers lead club activities, providing opportunities for informal English language learning and practice.
