School overview: This top level international school is part of a family of UK curriculum schools and combines over 400 years of educational excellence with a modern approach and first-rate facilities. The Shanghai school opened its doors to much fanfare in August 2016 and is a day and boarding school for students aged 2-18.
Students are expected to be fully involved and achieve their best in academic studies, extra-curricular activities and House events. The curriculum of Early Years is based on the EYFS curriculum while Pre-Prep is based on the National Curriculum of England with flavours of the International Primary Curriculum evident. Similarly, Prep, is based on the National Curriculum with the International Middle Years Curriculum influencing curriculum themes and learning approaches. The focus of the Upper School curricula is IGCSE and A-levels.

Requirements:
In this role you will be responsible for ensuring that students are supported in their learning journey, setting the highest aspirations for student achievement in the Department and maintaining outstanding academic standards throughout. You will be accountable for leading the development of the curriculum and improving Learning and Teaching within the department, and to contribute to the CPD of teachers.
Responsibilities include:
* Provide the department with clear goals and targets that are consistent with and reflect the school´s mission statement, school-wide development targets, the annual Learning & Teaching Priorities and British National Curriculum and Examination Board curriculum requirements.
* Strive for outstanding learning and teaching for all students in all lessons offered by the department.
* Monitor student progress against school Personal Targets Grades (PTGs), ensuring all teachers use assessment predictions to inform differentiation in lessons and appropriate support and encouragement of students.
* Carry out and formally record lesson observations of all staff in the department (at least termly) in liaison with the Heads of School.
* Work closely with the SLT to ensure effective implementation of the School´s strategic plan and to take a central role in that process
Qualifications
Person specification:
* At least 3 years´ experience in a similar role
* Qualified teacher status through a PGCE, GTP or other international equivalent.
* Able to demonstrate high quality teaching to EAL students
* Experience of designing and delivering exciting, challenging and personalised lessons
* Experience of leading or supporting leadership of a department or providing support to a school/department
