JOB DETAILS

This is an EXCITING and URGENT opportunity to join the British Council’s growing team of teachers based at our partner schools in Chiang Mai, one of the most pleasant cities in Asia in live and work in. It also represents a chance to gain valuable experience working in a mainstream educational environment,

Our teachers work with the students over the full academic year meaning that they build a very strong rapport with them, based on regular interaction and an in-depth understanding of their learning requirements. Consequently, the tangible impact we have on their English development is incredibly rewarding for all involved.

CHIANG MAI and MAE RIM

Chiang Mai is a city based in the mountainous north of Thailand, not far from its borders with Myanmar, Laos and China. It is vibrant and fun, and therefore very popular with tourists. However, you can still find it to be blissfully calm and laidback, especially as this role will entail regular visits to Mae Rim, which is about 20km from the centre of Chiang Mai, heading into stunning countryside and national parks.

There are plenty of activities to get involved in at the weekends or in the evenings, from exploring the city’s fascinating and ancient cultural heritage to making breath-taking excursions into Thailand’s lush highlands. Chiang Mai also has an international airport which has a number of low-cost airlines operating regular routes throughout the rest of Thailand (including its numerous stunning islands) and other exciting destinations in South-East Asia and China.

Ajarn

Ajarn.com was started as a small hobby website in 1999 by Ian McNamara. It was a simple way for one Bangkok teacher to share his Thailand experiences and pass on advice. The website developed a loyal and enthusiastic following. In 2004, Ian handed over the reins to Phil Williams and 'Bangkok Phil' has run the ajarn website ever since.
