The Chatteris Educational Foundation is a non-profit charitable organisation founded in 1990. Since 2006, Chatteris has provided opportunities for over 600 university graduates to work in Hong Kong schools on a 9-month paid contract as a Chatteris English Tutor.

Chatteris is seeking English-speaking University graduates from all over the world who are interested in living in Hong Kong and working to improve English in local schools. No TEFL/TESOL/CELTA certificate or previous experience is required, as we will provide you with orientation and training. As a Chatteris English Tutor (CNET), you will be placed full time in an elementary, middle, or vocational school to enhance the language learning environment and motivate and relate to students. At Chatteris, you will join a community of 70+ other international tutors. You will also have the opportunity to develop a lasting insight into Hong Kong and Chinese culture.

Teaching in a local Hong Kong school is a challenging and rewarding experience. CNETs develop many valuable personal and professional skills. Confidence, flexibility, patience, communication, and an appreciation of cultural diversity are essential to thriving in this new environment. At your school, you will be trained on a variety of tasks that include lesson planning, event planning, and classroom management. In addition to professional in-school experience, Chatteris strives to help CNETs seek career opportunities after their year in Hong Kong; we consider ourselves a ´stepping stone´ for you to explore your career. Many of our alumni have gone on to teach in Hong Kong and elsewhere in fields such as education, management, marketing, hospitality, finance, and many other industries.

QUALIFICATIONS

*An interest in Chinese culture and a desire to be immersed in a different culture and way of life is a necessity

*Applicants must be ready to learn, open to new experiences and willing to take on challenges

REQUIREMENTS:

*University graduates of any discipline with a bachelor´s degree or higher qualification

*High conversational level of English with excellent clarity of speech

*Must have an interest in working with children, teenagers, young adults, or perhaps considering a teaching career

*No previous experience or qualifications (i.e. CELTA) is needed as training will be provided. We are looking for the right personality and attitude

SALARY AND BENEFITS:

*9-month contract - commences 1 September 2016 (Mandatory orientation training begins on 8 August 2016)

*HK$14,000 per month (Approx. USD$1800)
