General Responsibilities:
Identifies the nature of learning difficulties experienced by students through the use of diagnostic tests, other information, and their academic achievement. Serves as a resource person to the faculty and a counselor to the students and their parents. Works with the students to develop their learning skills/concepts.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Assist the Principal in the improvement and implementation of educational programs
- Works collaboratively with staff to provide services to meet the individual needs of students
- Provides supportive academic services to teachers, students, and parents
- Actively participate in all Child Study Team meetings
- Test students referred by the Principal
- Upon request, evaluate students for learning difficulties prior to their acceptance into Northwest
- Analyze all diagnostic test results and prepare confidential reports for the principal
- Recommend specific classroom strategies and modifications to meet individual learner needs
- Counsel faculty regarding strategies to cope with individual student learning styles
- Counsel parents regarding ways of improving a student’s acquisition of knowledge and development of skills necessary for success at a particular grade level
- Assists in the implementation and improvement of the curriculum
- Assists the classroom teacher in the implementation of teaching strategies, identification of appropriate activities, organization and management of the classroom, selection of materials, and identification of specific needs of children
- Perform other tasks as may be directed by the Principal

- Minimum Teaching Experience2 Years

- Bachelor’s Degree in Education with minimum two years of experience in Special Education and child development
