School Ethos/Vision: Located in Sharjah, a short distance from Dubai, this Australian international school has developed a good reputation for delivering Australian teaching in an international context. This was the first Australian international school in the Middle East, formed originally as a partnership with the Queensland government and a Middle East based education group. The intention has always been to provide a high level Australian education whilst respecting the culture, values and faith of the people of the UAE. This is a local international school environment (53% of students are Emirati) and as such is an EAL environment. Facilities are very good.

Location Overview: Sharjah is the cultural capital of the UAE. It is a more conservative location than its neighbour Dubai and offers a more culturally realistic experience - however the glitzy draw of Dubai remains 30 minutes away - an easy cab ride. Single accommodation is provided in 2 bed apartments in a lovely gated community close to the school.

QUALIFICATIONS

Requirements: You should be a qualified teacher with a minimum of one year post qualifying experience. You must have Bachelor of Education due to UAE Ministry Laws. Teachers from Australia and New Zealand only are welcome to apply although teachers with extensive Australian curriculum experience will also be considered. You should be single or married, the school pays tuition for dependent children. The school wants teachers who are team players and consider themselves lifelong learners. Previous EAL teaching experience is desirable.
