Report to: Head of School or Head of Preschool
Key Responsibilities
•Identify the educational needs and strengths of individual children.
•Plan lessons that will engage the children while achieving curriculum objectives.
•Select appropriate learning resources and assist in creating purchase orders.
•Ensure activities are optimally challenging for students’ development by having appropriate and demanding expectations, clear targets, and which build on prior learning.
•Ensure time is used effectively and that lessons maintain optimal motivation.
•Use appropriate teaching methods that best match the content and students’ interest.
•Inspire students with lessons that evoke creativity and independent thinking.
•Assess students’ individual developmental path towards intended learning outcomes and curriculum standards.
•Continuously improve your lessons through self-evaluation and current educational research.
•Regularly communicate with parents through face-to-face meetings, communication journals, and social media.
•Safeguard the health and safety of children at the school.
•Participate in school events and facilitate promotions of the school by representing the school in a supportive professional manner.
•Encourage good habits by setting an example regarding punctuality, behavior, and standards of work.
•Participate in performance reviews and meetings.
•Coordinate the responsibilities of TAs working with you.
•Collaborate with the team to ensure the school functions smoothly.
•Must be energetic and have excellent classroom management skills.
Requirements
•Bachelor or master degree in education
•Qualified and certified/licensed as a teacher in USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, UK, or South Africa
•Excellent written and spoken communication skills
•Familiar with American Core Curriculum
•A minimum of two years’ experience teaching children under five years old
