School Vision / Ethos: This is a selective private school delivering a bilingual (Primary) and UK (Senior School) curriculum to around 2000 students from Years 1 - 12. Students in the senior school study toward Checkpoint, CIPP, IGCSE, A-Level and AP examinations. The school is well regarded in Shenzhen and in Guangdong province. In 2005 it was accredited as one of the highest ranked schools in the province. While the majority of students are Chinese, there are also Taiwanese, Korean and Singaporean students and a smattering of Western students. The graduating classes have gone to good universities, mostly in the UK and America. Teachers coming to work at this school will enjoy a high level of appreciation and respect amongst Chinese colleagues. The students are almost exclusively second language speakers and require (and seek!) more practice tasks and additional help in the uptake of skills.

Location Overview: Shenzhen is significantly cheaper than its famous neighbour, Hong Kong, but its close proximity means that day trips are easily accessible. The city is a modern metropolis with a thriving nightlife and a large expatriate community. Numerous theme parks can be found in the area, with some verging on the bizarre, and are well worth a visit. As one of China´s travel hubs, you are able to explore the rest of China and South East Asia during the school vacations.

QUALIFICATIONS

* Must have a Bachelor Degree in Education (or equivalent)

* 2 years of full-time teaching experience

* For Secondary roles A-Level, IB, AP or an equivalent level of teaching is required.

* Previous ESL experience is welcomed.

* Teachers must truly want to experience a more authentic Chinese teaching experience, have cultural sensitivity and be prepared to learn about the culture in which they live and work.
