The Lead Teacher for a combination class of third and fourth grade students will be responsible to teach English Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies using an interdisciplinary, inquiry- and project-based approach to teaching and learning. In addition to the academic subjects, the teacher is responsible to help students develop 21st-century skills, e.g., problem-solving, critical thinking, collaboration, research and creativity. Helping students develop socially and emotionally is another important area of responsibility. As NYA is a new school, teachers are involved in and responsible for developing the curriculum around interdisciplinary units of study centered on main ideas or themes.
New York Academy offers a progressive American curriculum in a nurturing environment for children in Nursery through Fourth Grade at its Early Learning Center, which opened in August 2016. Maximum class size is 16 students. In 2018, the school will open its the main campus for Nursery through Twelfth Grade.
