We are now holding interviews for English teachers to teach 7 to 12 year olds at our public primary schools in the Shunyi district in the vibrant capital city of Beijing. If you are a dynamic teacher, have an interest in an authentic Chinese school setting and can deliver learner centered, engaging lessons then we are interested in speaking with you.
Teachers use the communicative approach to language teaching with various student interactions encouraged in class such as group work, pair work, role plays, project work as well as more traditional teaching methods to add variety to the classes and help create a fun and relaxed learning environment.
All new teachers will receive training on arrival and will be introduced to the school and teaching methods. Teaching materials and resources are provided by the school and are targeted to the age of the students being taught. Materials follow the Chinese national school curriculum and focus on developing all four skills – speaking, listening, reading and writing. Teachers are encouraged to adapt and supplement the materials where need be to ensure classes are engaging and interesting.
Classes are held during the day time from Monday to Friday, with a maximum of 20 hours of teaching per week, so you have evenings and weekends off.
Teach English in Beijing
Beijing, capital of the People’s Republic of China, is the nation’s political, economic, cultural, educational and international trade and communication center. Located in northern China, close to the port city of Tianjin and partially surrounded by Hebei province, Beijing continues to be an exciting place for all things music, fashion and art with plenty of events and shows to attend.
There is a thriving expat community in Beijing, with the Sanlitun area being a popular destination for both expats and trendy locals to mix and mingle over drinks. One of the most important landmarks in the city is Tiananmen Square. This is the world’s largest public square and a must see for all visitors from abroad and from other places in China.
Main Responsibilities
-Maximum of 20 teaching hours per week
-Monday to Friday classes (8am to 12pm & 2pm to 5pm) with evenings and weekends off
-Student ages: 7 to 12 years old
-Class size: around 40 students per class
-Deliver learner centered, engaging ESL lessons to students
-Ensure equal participation of all students
-Complete all administrative tasks in a timely manner
-Actively participate in professional development workshops and activities
-Attend school activities, parties and other events
Requirements
-Native English speaker from UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand or Ireland
-Bachelor’s degree
At least one of the following required:
-Teaching related degree (English, Education, English Literature, Creative Writing etc.)
OR
-Minimum 120 hour TEFL certificate
OR
-Minimum of 2 years teaching experience with reference letter
Compensation
-Excellent salary: 15,000 RMB (gross) per month
-Housing allowance: 4,000 RMB per month
-Flight reimbursement on contract completion: up to 13,000 RMB
-3 nights free hotel stay upon arrival
-Airport pickup, bank, phone card, and apartment rental assistance
-All national holidays (full pay) + 1 month of winter vacation (full pay) + 2 months of summer vacation (paid as contract renewal bonus)
-Legal Z work visa provided and assistance with all the visa paperwork
-Social and business insurance provided
-Teacher training and professional development provided
-Free Chinese lessons provided
