School Vision / Ethos: This is a large boarding and day school with up to 2600 students. However the international section is much smaller with just 160 students. In the international section the school follows the Cambridge curriculum and is a Cambridge Examination Centre. The language of instruction in the international section is English while in the Chinese section, English classes being at Kindergarten or Level one. The school cooperates with the ABC Kindergarten in Melbourne, Australia. The school has very good sporting facilities with soccer fields and an all-weather running track, gymnasium, dance studio and basketball courts. The international section is in a separate building with reasonably well appointed classrooms and has projectors and whiteboards available. Internet is available in the library and is closely monitored. Class sizes are consistent with international standards and are small in the international section. There is a library with computer and internet access (with adjacent lecture room, meeting rooms and cafeterias (the international section has their own).

QUALIFICATIONS

Requirements: Teachers require at least two years´ experience to work in China. The school accepts all nationalities with a preference for Australian and British teachers but they must be native English speakers. Single, married couples and families (non-teaching spouse) are welcome. Teachers with children pay one third of their tuition. This is essentially an authentic working environment with a more didactic teaching style apparent particularly in the Chinese section. However, new progressive teaching styles are welcomed. Contracts are for one year only and renewable based on performance. The school enjoys an excellent reputation in China and abroad for academic achievement. Teachers coming to this school should be committed to completing their contract and be of the mind-set to embrace the Chinese culture, be willing to participate in the school community and perhaps even learn the language! They are keen to hire teachers who are passionate, love children and who are easy-going, flexible, adaptable and sociable. Experience of having taught GCSE or A Levels or Southern Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) is preferable for Secondary Teachers but they will consider those who have other curriculum experience at the same level.
