JOB DETAILS

HIRING 5 MORE EFL TEACHERS IMMEDIATELY!

Come experience all that Peru has to offer! Extreme Learning Centers, located in Arequipa Peru for over 11 years, is looking for five new teachers for June. We have added over 200 new students in the past two months and we need flexible native-English-speaking teachers to arrive in late May for orientation. Our institute has two locations in Arequipa, with 24 total classrooms. Our daily adult student population is about 850 (the majority are university students and young adults). Our institute has two locations in Arequipa, with 24 total classrooms. Most instructors teach three adult groups, each class having an average of 10 students. We teach all levels; from basic to advanced. Adult groups meet 2 hours per day, Monday – Friday, 18 days/36 hours per month. We also have children´s groups which meet on Saturdays for 2.5 hours. By having 18 days per month of adult classes and 4 Saturday kid’s classes, it allows our students and teachers to have a break at the end of most months.

Please note that while Peru is an amazing place for Andean culture and natural beauty, it is still a developing nation. Our students can´t afford to pay a lot for classes. Therefore, we can´t pay for housing or airfares. That said, our pay is very good for Arequipa and we help you find housing, provide free airport pick up and training prior to teaching. To better understand pay and the cost of living in Arequipa, our teachers earn, on average, about $5 USD per hour. This may not seem like much, but minimum wage is about $1.40 per hour. So, clearly our teachers earn much more than local workers and can live comfortably on their pay. Rent usually runs between S/400 and S/600 (Peruvian Nuevo Soles) per month ($120 to $185), including utilities. Our teachers usually earn between S/1500 to S/1700 per month (Peruvian Nuevo Soles) which is about $460 to $525 USD. For those who want to earn more money, we usually have private tutoring and extra groups available. The majority of teachers teach 120 hours per month.

QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Native English speaker from an English speaking country
2. Flexible personality, ready to work with peers from around the globe
3. TEFL/CELTA graduate of an accredited 120+ hour course with at least 8 hours of observed student teaching.
4. Be able to come to Peru in late May for orientation
5. Be able to commit to a 3 to 6 month initial contract

We will be interviewing from April 20th to May 10th. Are you ready to join our team and experience all that Peru and ELC have to offer? If so, please send your resume/CV and a recent photo to both our executive director and our human resource director immediately.
