About Abaarso School 

Abaarso School, located in Hargeisa, Somaliland (Somalia), educates the next generation of Somali leaders, who will help develop their country after a devastating civil war. Since opening in 2009, Abaarso has sent over 130 graduates on full scholarship to top colleges and secondary schools throughout the world, including Yale, Harvard, Columbia, Brown, MIT, Amherst, Swarthmore, and many more. The school has been featured on 60 Minutes and in The New York Times, BBC World, and CNN Money, among many others.

QUALIFICATIONS

Who we look for 

Abaarso teachers work long hours, as they are expected to fully immerse themselves in the school’s mission. They forge lifetime connections with grateful students who wouldn’t otherwise have the opportunity of a world- class education. Abaarso is looking for individuals interested in dedicating at least one year to training top high school students. Applications are welcome for English, social studies, math, and the sciences, including computer science. Experience teaching or working with youth is desirable, but not required.

SALARY AND BENEFITS

Teaching at Abaarso
