ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

Teaching, British Council Myanmar is expanding rapidly. With a high-growth economy, growing foreign investment, internationalisation and demand to study and/or live abroad, there is a burgeoning demand for English language learning. There is growing demand from secondary age school children and their parents for preparation for academic skills for future study in English-medium education. It is a key priority for the British Council Myanmar to develop and align its Young Learner ELT portfolio to market needs in order to expand our presence in the sector


 

 

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING AND WHY

 

Supporting British Council’s global and East Asia English strategy and enhancing British Council’s reputation as a world authority in ELT by:

 

 

 

· Product Management: Working closely with the Adult and Professional Development Unit coordinators, supervising identification of new products or changes, implementation, evaluation and ongoing development of new and existing products in Myanmar.

 

· Academic Management: Developing the tools (e.g. syllabuses, teacher guides) and processes (e.g. assessment, reporting tools) to support Teachers, Academic Coordinators / Managers and other stakeholders in the coherent, efficient and successful delivery of the product. Advising Teachers and Trainers and supporting effective learning.

 

· Training and Development: Working closely with the Training and Professional Development Coordinator, supervising the development of a coordinated training and professional development plan across all products and centres, enhancing teacher engagement and academic quality.

 

· Change Management: Supporting and engaging teams in Yangon (Academic, Operations, SCM and Marketing) with clear communications, active collection of, and responsiveness to, feedback and effective engagement of stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

 

. Cambridge DELTA or Trinity Dip TESOL), as well as a university degree. A minimum of 4 years’ full-time experience teaching adults

 

· Pedagogical knowledge and experience with adult students

 

· Experience in designing and delivering in-service training sessions

 

· Experience of line management of academic staff, including academic observation and feedback

SALARY AND BENEFITS

 

Salaries are divided into two components - US dollars and sterling.

The current scale ranges from:
US$ 24300 to 28,128 gross per year and GBP 8580 to 10,368 gross per year depending on your experience
