The Swedish Community School in Addis Ababa has a vacant position for an Assistant Principal
The Swedish Community School in Addis Ababa, founded in 1946, is a school with a Swedish profile. With more than 70 years of experience, it delivers Swedish education in the English language, within an international environment.
Today the school offers Preschool, Primary and Lower Secondary and has around 170 children ranging from 3 to 16 years old. Currently, the Swedish Community School provides education in English in accordance with the Swedish Curriculum. However, we plan to change to the Cambridge curriculum for the 2018/19 school year.
Profile and job descrition
The Assistant Principal will be key to our school’s success and will lead in developing all areas of the School (KG – Grade 8). You will build upon behaviour, welfare and academic systems, enabling teachers to teach and students to learn. You will work closely with the Principal and of course teachers and students.
The successful candidate will be a forward thinking leader and positive role model, with the ability to inspire both students and staff. They will get satisfaction from working with a wide range of people and welcome challenges.
The ideal candidate will have the teaching qualifications and leadership experience inside the Cambridge curriculum. Great communication skills in English are essential. We feel that the right attitude is important, which is why we are looking for individuals who are enthusiastic, focused and resilient to the day-to-day pressures that working in education can bring.
