JOB DETAILS

English Program, Watcarawittaya School is looking for a full time MATH teacher, and a full time ENGLISH teacher for May, 2017 (next academic year). Watcharawittaya is a mid-size government school in a town of Kamphaengphet, which is the provincial capital of Kamphaengphet province. The town is located halfway between Bangkok and Chiang Mai. So the both cities are easily accessible by buses or vans.

The school is located right in the town next to the Big C Mall. The cost of living in Kamphaengphet is relatively cheap. There are a few English teachers who have been living in the town for six years and over. There is some western food available from the local mall, supermarkets, and restaurants.

The successful candidate for the English teaching position will be expected to teach between 20 – 21 periods per week to classes of over 30 students, M1 to M6 (Grades 7-12). The successful candidate for the math teaching position will be expected to teach between 19 – 20 periods per week to classes of over 30 students, M.1 to M.3 (Grades 7-9). Both candidates will be expected to participate in some school activities, such as English camps, workshops, clubs etc. (occasional weekends are involved)

The school offers a 12 months contract with a monthly salary commencing at 30,000 baht, depending on one’s experience and qualifications, with annual pay rises. All Thai holidays are paid in full. The school will provide all necessary paperwork and assistance in obtaining the visa and work permit. The school also pays for the visa, work permit and social security.

QUALIFICATIONS

The teaching positions are open to NATIVE SPEAKERS ONLY (if you can comprehend this!)! All applicants must possess a bachelor degree (or higher) and transcript (absolutely essential for obtaining a visa). Please note, all degrees are subject to thorough check, both, by the school and the Teacher’s Council of Thailand! Candidates wishing to stay for an extended period of time in Thailand are preferred! Teaching experience in Thailand is preferred, but not essential.

The successful candidates must be enthusiastic, reliable, honest, have respect for Thai people and Thai culture, have a positive view of Thailand and MUST LIKE TEACHING (Not to be here for another visa extension!) You are not micro managed, there is no ‘horrible boss’ looking over your shoulder. However, it is essential that you are able to work independently and not to panic if you are not given all the information you deem necessary. The candidates must be able to start on 1st May, 2017.

If you are interested in the above positions, please send your covering letter, resume, a copy of your passport, degree, transcript, other relevant certificates and documents, and a recent photo to olistonekpp @ hotmail.com

Ajarn

Ajarn.com was started as a small hobby website in 1999 by Ian McNamara. It was a simple way for one Bangkok teacher to share his Thailand experiences and pass on advice. The website developed a loyal and enthusiastic following. In 2004, Ian handed over the reins to Phil Williams and 'Bangkok Phil' has run the ajarn website ever since.
