This post offers not only the opportunity to work within a great team of teachers, but also with regular training the successful candidate will be constantly evolving as an educator.  Kurdistan is only a bus trip or short flight away from Turkey which is great for those long weekends and public holidays, the school itself is situated in a large valley surrounded by beautiful mountains, there is a variety of bars and restaurants in the area where other expats get together.  There are a couple of large malls to satisfy those shopping needs, within which are also cinemas and cafes. 

The school aims to ensure that students grow to become "Lifelong Learners.”  Development is scaffolded to help them become knowledgeable individuals who are principled, creative, open-minded, balanced, unique and most importantly, happy citizens.A British curriculum is used to  promote the spiritual, moral, cultural, emotional and physical development of students at the school and prepares the students with the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences for later life.  The school ensures that its students understand the Kurdish culture whilst educating them about other cultures through its global curriculum, which in turn helps to build tolerant and respectful young people.  Instilling the values of honesty, respect, self confidence, equality and self control in its students through the lessons taught in the classroom, the school provides an integrated education to its students, that is strong, and that has a well established base in physical, social and emotional aspects at an international level. Students attain internationally recognised qualifications that allows them to study further anywhere in the world. Their students can achieve a Cambridge certified IGCSE certificate or an A/S and A level certificate.

QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate will:

  • have a BA degree in their relevant subject
  • be a licensed teacher (QT) but relevant experience valued
  • ideally have a UK PGCE qualification
  • have some iGCSE experience
  • have at least 2 years experience teaching British National Curriculum
  • be available to start in August 2016

  • Working hours:  32.5 hours per week (Sunday - Thursday, 8:00am-2:30pm)

  • Accommodation:  Shared apartment provided
  • Holidays: summer break, 2 weeks Newroz Festival (March), Christmas Dec. 24-Jan. 3  Plus some short national holidays (bank holidays)
  • Salary:  Approx. 1700 USD per month with a yearly increase
