Reading Specialist/ESL Teacher - Kuwait

General Responsibilities:
Identify the nature of reading deficiencies/difficulties experienced by students through the use of assessments, other information, and their academic achievement. Serve as a resource person to the faculty, counselors, students and their parents. Work with students to develop reading skills, fluency, and comprehension.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Assist the Principal in the improvement and implementation of educational programs
- Works collaboratively with staff to provide services to meet the individual needs of students
- Provides supportive academic services to teachers, students, and parents
- Actively participate in all Child Study Team meetings
- Assess students referred by the Principal
- Analyze all diagnostic test results and prepare confidential reports for the principal
- Recommend specific classroom strategies and modifications to meet individual learner needs
- Counsel faculty regarding strategies to cope with individual student learning styles
- Counsel parents regarding ways of improving a student’s acquisition of knowledge and development of skills necessary for success at a particular grade level
- Assists in the implementation and improvement of the reading curriculum
- Assists the classroom teachers in implementation of reading strategies, identification of appropriate activities, organization and management of the classroom, selection of materials, and identification of specific needs of children
- Perform other tasks as may be directed by the Principal

Additional Requirements
Credentials / Experience:
Minimum of two years of experience in Special Education, Reading, or child development
Soft Skills:
Ability to apply guidelines and follow directions.
Ability to organize data and files.
Ability to work well with the public, students, staff and parents.
Ability to maintain the confidentiality of students, staff, school business, materials, and information.
TEFL certification required
