ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT 

Teaching, British Council Myanmar is expanding rapidly. With a high-growth economy, growing foreign investment, internationalisation and demand to study and/or live abroad, there is a burgeoning demand for English language learning. There is growing demand from secondary age school children and their parents for preparation for academic skills for future study in English-medium education.  It is a key priority for the British Council Myanmar to develop and align its Young Learner ELT portfolio to market needs in order to expand our presence in the sector.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING AND WHY

Job purpose:
• To lead on the business development and implementation of our YL business, delivering on ambitious expansion plans to postion Myanmar as a leader in JELT project.
• To ensure high standards of teaching for Young Learners, meeting or exceeding quality standards. Through this, to promote more effective learning, drive forward our business growth, and meet British Council strategic objectives.

• To ensure a full professional development programme for teachers of Young Learner students.

• To ensure the effective delivery of an appropriate range of courses, in line with Business Plan targets; and appropriate staffing, deployment, cover, and support.

• To manage the day-to-day running, expansion, and development of Young Learner programme, working closely with the Sales & Customer Management team to provide excellent customer service to learners and with Marketing to ensure we understand and communicate effectively with our target segment

QUALIFICATIONS

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
·  Cambridge DELTA or Trinity Dip TESOL), as well as a university degree
·  At least 4 years’ experience of academic management at Senior teacher level or above
·  Minimum of 4 years’ YL pedagogical knowledge and experience of Primary Education and YL ELT with recent relevant YL teaching experience (5-18 year olds)
·  Experience in training and developing teachers

SALARY AND BENEFITS

Salary: USD41,736 to USD49,272
